Alcohol and drug abuse are termed so when an individual involves in overwhelming use of these substances with a strong tendency to “resume use of it after stopping for a period (Maisto et al., 2014).” There are many negative consequences of drug and alcohol abuse, the most important of them include psychological dependence. Though I have never been closely associated with any individual who has been abusing drugs or alcohol, I have had a few acquaintances many times. In this discussion, I would write about one such acquaintance. The individual was my friend’s uncle, he is an alcoholic.
